Gaza Student: ‘My Graduation Dream Was Stolen’ Amid Education Crisis

A month after the October 2025 Israel-Hamas ceasefire, Gaza's education system remains in ruins – and students like 22-year-old Naifa Ziad Musleh are paying the price. 🎓💔

'I studied through wars, power cuts, and checkpoints,' says Musleh, standing near the collapsed classrooms of the Islamic University. 'Now I’m left holding textbooks in a tent city.' Over 200 schools and universities were destroyed during recent hostilities, leaving 80,000+ students displaced.

While temporary learning centers are being set up by UNESCO and local NGOs, many argue it’s like 'building sandcastles during a tsunami.' The UN estimates $650 million is needed to rebuild educational infrastructure – funds that haven’t materialized yet.

'We don’t want pity – we want pencils,' Musleh tells us, her engineering notes fluttering in the sea breeze. 'My generation will rebuild Gaza. But first, we need somewhere to learn how.' ✊🌱
