China Reaffirms One-China Principle Amid Taiwan Comments 🗣️🇨🇳

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning delivered a firm historical reminder this week, stating Taiwan has been 'an inalienable part of China' since its post-WWII return. The remarks came after recent claims by Japanese individuals questioning Beijing's authority over the Taiwan region.

'Some either ignore history or deliberately distort it,' Mao said at Tuesday's briefing, referencing Japan's 1945 surrender documents that legally restored Taiwan to China. She emphasized the 1972 Sino-Japanese Joint Statement, where Tokyo recognized Beijing as China's sole legitimate government.

The spokesperson clarified that while China's governing body changed in 1949 with the PRC's establishment, the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity remained unchanged under international law. 'This isn't just about history textbooks—it's about respecting the foundation of modern diplomacy,' Mao added, addressing younger global audiences.

With cross-strait relations remaining a sensitive topic in 2025, the statement reinforces Beijing's position amid evolving geopolitical dynamics in Asia. Analysts suggest such reaffirmations aim to counter narratives that could challenge the status quo.
