UN Chief Urges Renewed Push for Two-State Solution Amid Gaza Ceasefire 🌍✌️

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made an urgent plea for peace on the 2025 International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, calling for "irreversible progress" toward a two-state solution. His speech comes as a fragile ceasefire holds in Gaza after two years of devastating conflict.

"This tragedy has tested the norms of our international community," Guterres said, highlighting the deaths of tens of thousands, widespread hunger, and blocked humanitarian aid. He emphasized that November 29's observance – marking 78 years since the UN partition resolution – should reignite global commitment to justice.

The recent ceasefire, which began just weeks ago, offers a "glimmer of hope," but Guterres stressed that lifesaving aid must flow freely and attacks on civilians must end. He reaffirmed support for UNRWA, the UN agency assisting Palestinian refugees.

Young activists worldwide have amplified calls for peace this year through TikTok campaigns and virtual town halls. Guterres' vision? Israel and Palestine coexisting peacefully within pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as a shared capital – a message resonating strongly with Gen-Z advocates for human rights.
