1.5M Afghans Disabled by Conflict: UN Sounds Alarm 🚨

An estimated 1.5 million Afghans live with significant disabilities – many caused by decades of war – according to a new UN report that paints a grim picture of Afghanistan's humanitarian crisis. 🧒 Children are hit hardest, with explosive remnants turning playgrounds into danger zones.

💥 Afghanistan remains one of the world's most mine-contaminated countries, with 1,150 square kilometers still littered with deadly traps. Just this month, explosions in Kandahar, Uruzgan, and Balkh provinces killed 7 people – including kids – and injured 9 others.

"These aren't just numbers – they're lives shattered by every forgotten landmine," a UNAMA spokesperson tweeted Wednesday. The agency urges global action to accelerate mine clearance and support rehabilitation programs.

With winter approaching ❄️, advocates warn disabled Afghans face compounded challenges: limited mobility + harsh conditions = a survival battle within a battle.
