With new customs policies set to streamline international collaborations, Müller predicts Hainan will become Asia's next hotspot for cross-cultural storytelling. This year's festival lineup features 30% more international entries compared to 2024, including VR experiences from Singapore and climate-themed documentaries from Pacific island nations.
