China Calls for Action as UN Gaza Resolutions Go Unheeded
At a tense UN Security Council meeting this week, China’s UN Ambassador Fu Cong hammered home a critical message: resolutions to address Gaza’s crisis must stop collecting dust and start saving lives.
Despite multiple UNSC resolutions demanding a ceasefire, Fu noted that “none have been effectively implemented” – a failure he says undermines global trust in the UN system.
US Military Support Under Scrutiny
In a pointed remark, Fu questioned Washington’s $17 billion in military aid to Israel since October: “Does this massive weapons supply align with peace goals?” He urged the US to back stronger Council action for an immediate ceasefire.
Humanitarian Catastrophe Looms
Fu denounced the use of starvation as a war tactic – “a serious war crime” – and demanded Israel lift Gaza blockades. He emphasized UNRWA’s vital role, rejecting attempts to discredit the aid agency helping 2 million displaced Palestinians.
As diplomatic tensions rise, this call spotlights growing demands for accountability in one of the world’s most devastating conflicts.
