Israel Vows Permanent Presence in Gaza, Plans New Settlements 🌍✊

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared this week that Israel will maintain a permanent military presence in Gaza while advancing controversial settlement plans, signaling a major shift in regional strategy as 2025 draws to a close.

Gaza Settlement Blueprints Revealed

Speaking at a West Bank ceremony, Katz announced plans to establish Nahal settlement groups in northern Gaza – military-backed outposts designed to evolve into civilian communities. 🔨 While avoiding specific timelines, he emphasized these would replace settlements evacuated during Israel's 2005 Gaza withdrawal.

"We are deep inside Gaza and will never leave all of Gaza – there will be no such thing," Katz stated bluntly.

Syria Stance Hardens

The defense minister also rejected diplomatic solutions for Syria, dismissing U.S.-brokered efforts: "We will not withdraw even by a millimeter." This follows Israel's 2024 move into southwestern Syria's buffer zone and control of Mount Hermon’s strategic peak.

Ceasefire vs Reality Check

Despite an October 10 ceasefire, Israeli forces continue daily operations in Gaza – including building demolitions near military positions. The announcement has drawn swift condemnation from Palestinian leaders and international observers.
