S. Korea Denies DPRK Drone Allegations, Proposes Joint Probe 🌐✈️

South Korea has firmly denied claims by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) that its drones violated DPRK airspace earlier this month, calling the accusations "baseless" and proposing a rare joint investigation to resolve tensions. 🔍

The Accusation

On January 4, the DPRK alleged that a South Korean drone crossed into its territory near Kaesong Municipality, claiming it was struck down by electronic warfare systems. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) stated the drone flew eight kilometers into DPRK airspace before crashing.

Seoul’s Response

South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-baek dismissed the claims on January 10, calling the photos released by Pyongyang "unverifiable" and emphasizing that the drone model shown "does not match South Korean military equipment." President Lee Jae Myung has ordered a full review of the incident.

A Call for Collaboration

In a surprising move, Minister Ahn suggested a joint probe with the DPRK to clarify facts—a rare diplomatic gesture amid strained cross-border relations. Analysts say this could either ease tensions or deepen mistrust, depending on Pyongyang’s response. 🤝
