60 Days of Peace? Iran and US Eye Major Ceasefire Deal 🕊️

Is the Middle East heading toward a breather? 🌍 There is some big news coming out of the diplomacy world as Iran and the United States work on a preliminary draft agreement that could change the vibe of the entire region. According to a senior Iranian official, the deal is eyeing a 60-day ceasefire across all fronts, including the heavy fighting in Lebanon.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a key figure in the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, shared that this first phase is all about a comprehensive halt to hostilities. But as we know, the road to peace is rarely a straight line. 🎢

Just this week, things got tense. Iran accused the US of breaking a fragile ceasefire by hitting targets near the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Lebanon has been feeling the heat with over 120 air strikes from Israel, marking some of the heaviest bombardments in recent weeks. 💥 Iran is making it clear: any broader agreement has to include an end to these military operations in Lebanon.

So, what's the catch? 🧐

Beyond the fighting, there are some serious financial and political hurdles. The two sides are negotiating in Qatar, and the biggest sticking point right now is the money. Iran is looking to get access to roughly $24 billion in frozen funds. It's a massive amount of cash that could make or break the deal.

On the US side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio mentioned that it might take a "few days" to finalize the agreement. If it happens, this ceasefire will serve as a framework for deeper talks on Iran's nuclear program and those frozen assets.

While the diplomacy is happening, the military is still on high alert. Mohammad Akbarzadeh of the IRGC Navy says the chance of a full-blown war is "low" because he believes the "enemy" is weak, but he warned that Iranian forces are fully loaded and ready for anything. 🛡️

With global energy markets always sensitive to instability in this region, the world is watching closely to see if this 60-day window becomes a lasting peace or just a temporary pause. Stay tuned! ✨
