This year, the festivities gained an international twist when Chen Jianyong, a project employee at China State Construction (CSCEC), joined his Sri Lankan colleague Suranga’s family celebrations, sharing sweets, stories, and a whole lot of curry!
Chen and other colleagues arrived at Suranga’s home bearing gifts and New Year blessings, diving into rituals like lighting the hearth and preparing kiribath (coconut milk rice). 🍛 The group bonded over games, exchanged customs, and even debated who makes the crispiest kokis (a crunchy snack)! 🎲
