Xi, Peru President Boluarte Boost Ties at APEC Summit 🌏🤝

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Peruvian President Dina Boluarte pledged to elevate their nations’ comprehensive strategic partnership during high-stakes talks in Lima this week. The leaders emphasized economic collaboration, cultural exchange, and global South solidarity amid the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. 🏛️✨

Xi highlighted a 1.6x surge in bilateral trade since 2016 and doubled Chinese investments in Peru, calling the Chancay Port—a Belt and Road Initiative star project—a “new land-sea corridor” linking Latin America with Asia. The two leaders later virtually inaugurated the port, set to supercharge regional trade. 🚢💼

“Our ancient civilizations teach us to follow the tide of history,” Xi said, announcing plans for more student scholarships and youth exchanges. Peru’s Congress has already marked February 1 as Peru-China Fraternity Day, cementing cultural bonds. 📚🎓

Boluarte praised China as Peru’s top trade partner, adding that Chancay Port will become a “bridge between continents.” Both leaders also agreed to tackle illegal fishing and boost anti-corruption efforts, while Peru reaffirmed its adherence to the one-China principle. 🤝🔒

With APEC economies accounting for 60% of global GDP, Xi vowed to support Peru’s host role, urging cooperation to build an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future. Meanwhile, plans for a China-Latin America industrial park network signal fresh opportunities for young entrepreneurs. 🌐💡
