🚗 From Assembly Lines to New Opportunities: How a Chinese Auto Plant Empowers South African Workers
Jean-Jaques Mwanza and Shanique Human, employees at FAW Vehicle Manufacturers SA in Coega, South Africa, say working with Chinese colleagues has been 'life-changing.' In a recent interview, they described how cross-cultural teamwork and skills training programs helped them grow professionally while building mutual understanding.
'I’ve learned advanced manufacturing techniques that I can apply anywhere,' said Mwanza, emphasizing the transfer of technical expertise. Human added: 'Our teams share ideas openly – it’s not just about work, but connecting as people.'
The plant, which produces commercial vehicles for African markets, has created 200+ local jobs since 2014. Workers highlighted the company’s focus on safety standards and career development opportunities rarely found in other regional employers.
