When Olga Zelkovskaya first arrived in China from Belarus, she didn’t expect her curiosity to turn into a thriving international business – or a decade-long love affair with the country’s culture and innovation. Now, the Peking University grad is sharing how her journey from campus to Chongqing’s bustling markets became a masterclass in understanding modern China.
Building Bridges Through Business
After graduating, Olga headed southwest to Chongqing, drawn by what she calls 'the energy of China’s new frontiers.' There, she discovered how the Belt and Road Initiative isn’t just about infrastructure – it’s creating real opportunities for entrepreneurs. 'Imagine connecting Sichuan’s spicy peppercorns to European kitchens through e-commerce,' she laughs. 'That’s globalization with a local flavor!'
China’s Hidden Gems 🚗💨
When she’s not closing deals, Olga’s hitting the road. From Yunnan’s terraced fields to Gansu’s ancient Silk Road routes, she’s watched highways and mobile apps transform rural lives. 'Last year, I met farmers livestreaming apple sales from remote mountains. That’s China’s tech revolution – no Silicon Valley required.'
‘My business taught me China’s secret sauce,’ Olga says. ‘It’s not just factories and skyscrapers – it’s people turning challenges into opportunities, everyday.’
