Vice Premier Leads All-Out Rescue Efforts After Sichuan Landslide

📍 A devastating landslide hit Jinping Village in Junlian County, Yibin, southwest China's Sichuan Province last Saturday at 11:50 a.m., leaving 29 individuals missing and sparking urgent rescue missions.

Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong, a key member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has been at the forefront of the response. He rushed to the disaster site Saturday night to oversee rescue operations and ensure emergency measures are effectively implemented.

During his visit, Liu inspected the landslide area, evaluated rescue progress, and coordinated follow-up actions. At a Sunday meeting, he emphasized the importance of a well-coordinated operation, deploying advanced equipment and monitoring tools to safeguard rescuers and speed up the search for missing persons.

“Our top priority is to minimize casualties,” Liu stated, highlighting the need for accurate verification of those missing and prompt evacuation of residents in jeopardy. 🚨

Beyond immediate rescue efforts, Liu stressed the importance of providing thoughtful assistance to bereaved families, adequate support for relocated residents, and timely information dissemination to keep the public informed and calm.
