The vibrant Lantern Festival illuminated Beijing on Saturday as Taiwan businessmen gathered for a special reunion event organized by the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee. 🎆
Song Tao, head of both the Taiwan Work Office and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, delivered heartfelt remarks, extending festive greetings to all Taiwan compatriots. He highlighted the resilience of the Chinese mainland economy, which successfully navigated challenges in 2023 to achieve its goals.
Song emphasized the mainland's economic strengths, including steady growth, robust resilience, high-quality development, and the positive impacts of continued reform and opening up. These factors, he noted, offer abundant opportunities for Taiwan compatriots and enterprises to thrive on the mainland.
\"By adhering to the one-China principle and opposing Taiwan independence, we can maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits, allowing more opportunities for our compatriots and businesses to benefit from the mainland's new developments,\" Song stated.
He urged compatriots on both sides of the Straits to collaborate for the peaceful advancement of cross-Strait relations and to support the cause of national reunification. Song also asserted that those intending to harm the well-being of compatriots on both sides would face consequences.
During the event, representatives of Taiwan businessmen expressed their confidence in continuing to develop on the mainland and their hopes for fostering peaceful cross-Strait relations.
