Kyrgyzstan pulled off a nail-biting overtime victory against Kuwait, winning 9-8 in the opening men's ice hockey match at the Harbin Asian Winter Games on Monday. With just four days left until the grand Opening Ceremony, excitement is heating up!
Early on, Anton Tcibin and Ilia Drozdetskikh heated up the scoreboard, each scoring two goals to help Kuwait take a 5-3 lead in the first period. The Kuwaitis further extended their edge to 7-3, but Kyrgyzstan made an incredible comeback by tying the game at 8-8 in the final minute of the third period.
Kyrgyzstan's captain, Mamed Seifulov, was the hero of the hour, scoring just 19 seconds into overtime to secure the thrilling victory.
Reflecting on the intense win, Kyrgyzstan forward Sultan Ismanov said, \"It was a hard win for us. We arrived here two days ago and still need adaptation. I am sure we will be better in the next game. The atmosphere for us was good. I want to say thanks to our fans and the Chinese people.\"
