Vibrant Lunar New Year Celebrations Light Up Lanzhou’s Yellow River

As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches, Lanzhou's Yellow River becomes the heart of vibrant celebrations. Zhao Xiaoyu, 24, joined many young people in donning traditional red Hanfu, capturing memorable moments with a professional photographer against the scenic backdrop of the Yellow River.

The Spring Festival fair, held along the river, featured around 150 booths offering everything from makeup and traditional clothing rentals to photography services. Yuan, a local photographer, noted, \"This Spring Festival, more young people have been taking photos and posting them on their social media accounts. This is a good way to tell the story of Lanzhou.\" 📸✨

The fair was a hub of cultural activities, including mesmerizing dragon dances, lively lion dances, graceful stilt shows, and rhythmic drum performances. Dong Yujie, 27, shared his experience by livestreaming the parade to friends abroad, saying, \"The sounds of the gongs, drums and firecrackers brought back our childhood memories. They are the flavor of the Spring Festival.\" 🐉🥁

Online buzz was significant, with related topics garnering over 15 million views on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. Inspired by a folk music performance he watched online, Lanzhou resident Wang Wei visited the fair with his family, enjoying local tea and specialties while soaking in the festive atmosphere.

Xu Haifeng, one of the folk music program organizers, highlighted the fair's role in unleashing the cultural vitality of the Yellow River, known as the \"mother river\" of the Chinese nation. \"The fair by the Yellow River brings traditional Chinese culture closer to young people,\" Xu remarked. 🌊🎶
