BYD Recalls Nearly 97K EVs Due to Steering Fault ⚠️🚗

BYD, the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced a recall of nearly 97,000 electric cars in the Chinese mainland. This comes after the company identified a steering control unit issue that could potentially lead to fire risks, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) 🇨🇳🔥.

The affected models include the Dolphin and Yuan Plus, which were produced between November 2022 and December 2023. These models were BYD's top sellers in 2023, making up 26% of the company's total sales of around 3 million units 🚀📈.

After a relatively rare recall, BYD addresses concerns by having authorized dealers install a \"physical fix\" on the recalled vehicles 🛠️🔧. Previously, in 2022, BYD recalled a small batch of Tang plug-in hybrids over battery pack defects that posed fire hazards 🔋🔥.

Currently, it's unclear whether any of the recalled vehicles were exported to international markets 🌐🤔.
