A 100-day-old panda cub, born to Meng Meng—the eldest of the world's only giant panda triplets—is thriving at Chimelong Safari Park in Guangzhou City, south China's Guangdong Province. 🐼✨
The zoo celebrated the cub's first 100 days with a public event on Thursday. The conservation team conducted a physical examination, revealing the baby panda has grown from 178 grams at birth to over 5 kilograms and now sports 13 teeth.
\"The cub is now fed three to four times a day, each time for about five to ten minutes. It sleeps most of the time except for eating,\" said Chen Siming, a panda keeper. \"We are increasing its sun exposure, taking it outdoors around 8 a.m. every day for half an hour of sunbathing to promote bone and muscle growth.\"
After the checkup, the baby panda returned to its exhibition area and enjoyed sleeping on a special \"100-family quilt,\" a patchwork blanket sewn from \"blessing cloth\" brought by visitors. This symbolizes the blessings from numerous families in Cantonese culture.
Chimelong Safari Park announced that the adorable cub, born on June 18, will be officially introduced to tourists during the upcoming National Day holiday. This marks the first newborn giant panda at the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Pandas this year. 🌟
