Xinjiang’s New Airport Soars Closer to Launch with Test Flight Success 🛫

Xinjiang’s aviation network is expanding! 🚀 The Bayingolin Luntai Airport completed its critical test flight this week, paving the way to become the 29th civil transport hub in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Chengdu Airlines piloted the domestically developed C909 aircraft for the milestone, signaling a major boost for regional connectivity.

Set to open soon, the 4C-class airport aims to serve 300,000 passengers annually by 2030, with planned routes linking Luntai County to major cities like Urumqi, Beijing, Chengdu, and Xi’an. ✈️ This project fills a key infrastructure gap in southern Xinjiang, promising to enhance tourism and economic opportunities for residents.

Local officials say the airport will act as a “gateway to the Silk Road,” blending modern aviation with the region’s rich cultural heritage. For travelers, it means easier access to Xinjiang’s stunning landscapes—think snow-capped mountains and ancient desert oases. 🏔️🌵
