China & Pacific Nations Boost Tourism & Ties 🌏🤝

Sun, sea, and strategic handshakes! 🌴 China and Pacific Island nations are powering up collaboration with a major tourism summit in Fiji and high-stakes diplomatic talks set for Xiamen this week. Over 10 Pacific countries and regions joined the May tourism exchange – from Fiji to Vanuatu – to brainstorm sustainable travel partnerships and economic growth.

🚀 "China is a game-changer for Pacific tourism," declared Adela Issachar Aru of the Pacific Tourism Organization, highlighting the partnership's potential. The momentum builds as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi prepares to host the third China-Pacific Foreign Ministers' Meeting on May 27-28 – the first in-person edition on the Chinese mainland.

💡 What's on the agenda? Deeper cooperation in trade, climate resilience, and cultural exchanges, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning. With 11 Pacific nations now diplomatically aligned with China – including Nauru, which re-established ties in January – 2024 has already seen leaders from Fiji, Samoa, and Micronesia strengthening bonds in Beijing.

From beachside summits to policy breakthroughs, this partnership is rewriting the playbook for South Pacific development. 🌊✨
