Anti-Asian Hate Surges in U.S. Amid Funding Cuts 🚨

Anti-Asian hate remains a pressing crisis in the U.S., with a new report revealing rising incidents fueled by political rhetoric and systemic discrimination—and federal funding cuts threatening to worsen the problem. 📉

Young Adults Hit Hardest

Stop AAPI Hate’s 2024 report found 53% of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AA/PI) adults experienced hate last year, up from 49% in 2023. Among those aged 18–29, a shocking 74% reported hate acts, including harassment and institutional discrimination. 💔

Mental Health Toll

The trauma is widespread: 70% of victims reported frequent stress, 59% faced anxiety, and 83% expressed concern about the nation’s racial climate. Yet 40% never shared their experiences, and 77% didn’t report incidents to authorities. 🗣️

Funding Cuts Spark Outrage

Despite the crisis, the U.S. Department of Justice slashed over $810 million in public safety grants, including a $2 million grant to Stop AAPI Hate. Advocates warn these cuts undermine efforts to protect vulnerable communities. 💸

"Public institutions are failing AA/PI communities," said Stop AAPI Hate co-founder Manjusha Kulkarni. "Funding cuts risk reversing progress."

With anti-immigrant rhetoric dominating the 2024 election cycle, activists urge stronger action to address hate—before it’s too late. ✊
