China Honors Late Military Leader Xu Qiliang in Beijing Ceremony

🇨🇳 China bid farewell to former senior military leader Xu Qiliang in a solemn ceremony at Beijing’s Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery on Sunday. Top leaders, including General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping, paid their respects to Xu, who passed away on June 2 at age 75 after battling illness.

Amid somber music, Xi and other leaders—Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, and more—stood in silent tribute, bowed three times, and offered condolences to Xu’s family. The ceremony highlighted Xu’s decades of service as vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a key figure in the CPC’s 18th and 19th Central Committees.

Xu was celebrated as a “time-tested communist soldier” and “outstanding military strategist,” praised for his loyalty to the People’s Liberation Army. Leaders including former president Hu Jintao also mourned Xu during his hospitalization or through condolences afterward.

His legacy underscores the deep ties between China’s leadership and its military pillars. 🌟
