China Powers Up Major Hydropower Unit in Green Energy Push 🌱⚡

China’s clean energy ambitions just got a major boost! The second generating unit at the Batang hydropower station on the Jinsha River in southwest China is now operational after a successful 72-hour trial, according to Science and Technology Daily. This project is part of the country’s push to cut carbon emissions and ramp up renewable energy sources. 💧🌍

Clean Energy for Millions

The station’s three units—each with a 250,000-kilowatt capacity—will eventually deliver 750,000 kilowatts total. The first unit went live in May, and the third is set to start in mid-July. Once fully operational, the station will generate over 3 billion kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually—enough to power 1.75 million households! 🏡💡

A Greener Future Ahead

This hydropower leap will save 1.05 million tonnes of coal yearly and slash CO₂ emissions by 3.15 million tonnes. Talk about a win for the planet! 🌿 As global climate goals tighten, projects like Batang highlight China’s role in scaling sustainable energy solutions. Stay tuned for more updates as the third unit revs up next month! 🚀
