Hong Kong Honors WWII Heroes to Boost Patriotism & History Awareness 🌟🇭🇰

Hong Kong is turning back the clock to honor its wartime heroes! The city’s government rolled out commemorative medals 🎖️ on Friday to mark the 80th anniversary of China’s victory over Japanese aggression, spotlighting veterans and their families who fought bravely during WWII.

HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee called the ceremony a 'powerful reminder' of Hong Kong’s role in the resistance. 'Our people stood shoulder-to-shoulder with mainland compatriots, risking everything to defend our homeland,' he said, highlighting stories of locals joining guerrilla forces like the East River Column. 💪

Why the history lesson? Lee stressed that 'knowing our past fuels patriotism'—especially for Gen Z. The government is planning film screenings 🎬, school programs, and a major ceremony on September 3 to make sure younger residents connect with this legacy.

'The spirit of resistance isn’t just history—it’s fuel for our future,' Lee added. With tensions rising globally, Hong Kong is gearing up to ensure its youth never forget the grit that shaped their city. 📚✨
