Deep in the mountains of Sichuan Province, rangers from the Laohegou Protected Area and the Tangjiahe Area are embarking on a 45-kilometer jungle trek to protect China's iconic giant pandas. Established a decade ago, Laohegou is part of the expanding Giant Panda National Park, while Tangjiahe has been a panda research hub since 1978. Their mission? To patrol dense forests and document wildlife—but the big question is: Will they spot a wild panda?
This joint expedition is featured in the new \"Journeys in Nature: Southwest Humanities Series\", showcasing how locals peacefully coexist with nature. Residents here often encounter pandas, otters, and other wild creatures—turning everyday life into an adventure.
