Chinese athlete Luo Zongshi delivered a spirited performance at the World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi, snagging bronze in the women’s 57kg category on Friday. The 2022 world champion faced a fierce showdown against Brazil’s Maria Clara Pacheco, ranked No. 1 globally, in a semifinal that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

Pacheco dominated early with sharp mid-level kicks, taking the first round 4-2. The 22-year-old Brazilian star continued her momentum in the second round, landing high kicks to build a 10-point lead. Though Luo fought valiantly, forcing errors from her opponent, she couldn’t close the gap and settled for bronze. 🥉

Pacheco later clinched gold by defeating South Korea’s Olympic champion Kim Yu-jin 2-0 in the final. 🌟
