🚗⚡ In a bold statement at the Istanbul Energy Forum, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto criticized the European Union's recent decision to impose hefty tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).
Speaking at the Istanbul Congress Center, Szijjarto labeled the EU's move as \"anti-democratic,\" pointing out that only 10 out of the 27 EU member states supported the decision. He emphasized that the tariffs, which can reach up to 45.3%, are detrimental to the EU economy.
\"We are in favor of enhancing cooperation with the Chinese mainland,\" Szijjarto stated, highlighting the significant presence of Chinese investors in Hungary. He urged the EU to pursue more active and collaborative trade and economic relations with China.
On October 29, the EU announced the controversial tariffs on Chinese EVs, set to last for at least five years. However, there's a glimmer of hope as a Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson revealed on November 8 that China and the EU have made progress in negotiations regarding a proposed price commitment plan for Chinese EVs. 🌍💬✨
