In a move highlighting the strong ties between Guangdong and Macao, Chinese premier Xi Jinping visited the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on Thursday morning.
Arriving in Macao on Wednesday, Xi celebrated the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the Chinese mainland and the inauguration of its sixth-term government. His visit also included an insightful inspection tour of the cooperation zone.
During his time in Hengqin, Xi engaged warmly with residents of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) who have initiated businesses in the cooperation zone, as well as with key figures involved in the zone's planning, construction, management, and services.
One of the highlights of his visit was the exhibition hall, where photographs, charts, and physical models illustrated the seamless integrated development of Hengqin and Macao. The displays highlighted the significant achievements and milestones of Guangdong-Macao cooperation over recent years.
Xi emphasized that since the establishment of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, there has been remarkable progress across various sectors, enhancing the integration between Hengqin and Macao. \"The support for Macao's diversified economic development is increasingly evident,\" he stated.
He concluded by affirming that the central government's decision to develop Hengqin and build the cooperation zone has been absolutely correct, paving the way for continued growth and collaboration between the regions.
