Global geopolitics might be turbulent, but American companies in China are proving resilient. According to the American Chamber of Commerce in China's latest survey, 46% of US firms in the Chinese mainland reported profitability in 2024—a sign of adaptability amid shifting trade winds.
The report highlights a surprising silver lining: while 18% of companies faced losses, over a third broke even, and nearly half thrived. Even more striking? 87% of businesses called stable US-China relations “crucial” to their success—up 5% from last year.
“A constructive US-China relationship isn’t just good for business—it’s vital for global stability,” said Chamber Chair Alvin Liu, stressing the need for diplomacy-driven economic ties. Meanwhile, 48% of firms still rank China as a top-three investment priority, proving the market’s lasting allure.
