Reviving the US manufacturing sector might be more challenging than it appears. Warwick Powell, an adjunct professor at Queensland University of Technology, shared his insights in an interview with CGTN's Guan Xin. Powell believes that simply imposing tariffs is an inadequate strategy to bring back an industry that's been dwindling for over half a century.
He emphasized that structural issues and long-term economic shifts have significantly impacted the manufacturing landscape. Powell suggests that a more comprehensive approach is necessary to truly reindustrialize and sustain growth in this crucial sector.
