The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME) has voiced strong opposition to the U.S. decision to impose an additional 10% tariff on goods imported from China.
CCCME labeled the unilateral tariff imposition as a serious violation of World Trade Organization (WTO) rules. The trade group emphasized that this move not only fails to address existing issues but also undermines normal economic and trade cooperation between China and the U.S.
Highlighting the close trade relations between the two nations, CCCME pointed out the tangible benefits that both Chinese and American enterprises and consumers have enjoyed. The new tariffs are expected to increase costs for businesses and disrupt supply chain stability, negatively impacting both Chinese exporters and U.S. importers and consumers.
\"Trade is not a zero-sum game, and win-win cooperation is the right way to develop,\" CCCME stressed in their statement.
The group called on the U.S. to abandon trade protectionism and resolve differences through dialogue and consultation on an equal footing. They urged both nations to work together to maintain an open, fair, and stable international trade order.
