China Calls for US Withdrawal of Copper Import Probe

China's Ministry of Commerce is urging the United States to drop its Section 232 investigation into copper imports. 🇨🇳🤝🇺🇸 The ministry's spokesperson, He Yadong, stated that the US probe accusing China of using subsidies and excess capacity to undermine competition is \"entirely unfounded.\"

He described the US move as a \"unilateral and protectionist act\" under the guise of national security, warning it could disrupt global supply chains and the rules-based multilateral trading system.

Back in 2022, an experts panel from the World Trade Organization (WTO) already ruled that the US Section 232 tariff measures violate WTO rules. 📉

Interestingly, China is a net importer of refined copper, only exporting a small amount of copper products. If the US persists with additional tariffs and restrictions, He Yadong assured that China would take necessary measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests.

However, China remains open to resolving the issue through dialogue and consultation, opposing the US unilateral tariffs firmly. Let's watch how this trade story unfolds! 🌏💬✨
