Over 790 million cross-regional trips were made during the three-day break, per China’s Ministry of Transport. A whopping 90% of trips were self-drive adventures , as families and friends opted for flexibility. Ride-hailing giant DiDi Chuxing reported a 14% spike in demand, with 110,000+ rides booked per minute during peak hours – talk about a traffic jam!
Short Trips, Big Vibes
Local tourism thrived, with nearby tour orders up 136% compared to last year. Most travelers kept it short and sweet: 70% booked <1–3-day getaways1–3-day, and 44% chose road trips for quick cultural escapes. Perfect for Gen-Zers craving micro-adventures without the hassle!
Border Crossings Surge
International travel also bounced back, with border agencies processing 6.21 million entries/exits (+19.7% YoY) – a sign that global travel is heating up for summer!
