World’s Largest Eco-Friendly Container Ship Sets Sail from Shanghai 🌱🚢

Shanghai’s Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding base just upped the game in green maritime tech with the delivery of the CMA CGM SEINE—a 24,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel container ship that’s breaking records. Think of it as the Tesla of the seas, but bigger (way bigger). 🌊

A Giant of the Seas

At 399 meters long (that’s four soccer fields!) and with room for 23,876 containers stacked as high as a 25-story building, this ship is a floating skyscraper. It’s designed to haul 220,000 tonnes of cargo between Asia and Europe, starting April 18. Perfect timing for global trade enthusiasts 👀!

The 'Green Heart' Powerhouse

Ditching traditional fuels, this ship runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG), cutting CO2 by 20% and slashing harmful emissions by up to 99%. Its 18,600 cubic meter fuel tank acts like a green battery, powering trips up to 20,000 nautical miles—enough to circle halfway around the Earth! 🌍

Five Major Upgrades

Building on its 2020 predecessor, the SEINE boasts 764 more containers, smarter fuel use, and safety tech like water-absorbing alarms and mega water cannons 🚒. Plus, crew cabins got a noise-canceling upgrade—because even sailors deserve peace and quiet 🎧.

Charting a Greener Course

China Shipbuilding Group has now delivered 12 dual-fuel ships to French giant CMA CGM, with three more on the way. This isn’t just a win for engineering—it’s a leap toward cleaner oceans. 🌏✨
