Meet Han Xiaodong, an inspiring associate professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in the Chinese mainland. Since 2007, Han has been shaping the future of sculpture and public art, blending tradition with modern creativity.
Han’s journey is a testament to dedication and passion. Holding bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from CAFA, he has honed his expertise in sculpture and public art. Currently, he oversees the Material Studio in the Mural Painting Department of the School of Plastic Arts, where he mentors the next generation of artists.
His impressive portfolio includes the statue of Yuan Longping, known as the \"Father of Hybrid Rice,\" which is part of a national project celebrating major historical themes. Han’s work doesn’t stop there—he also created two striking commemorative sculptures titled \"Ode to Peace\". These masterpieces are proudly displayed at the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and at the camp of the Chinese peacekeeping troops in Lebanon for the United Nations Interim Force.
As a member of both the China Sculpture Institute and the Chinese Urban Sculpture Artists Association, Han Xiaodong continues to influence the art scene with his vision and commitment to peace through art. His sculptures not only honor significant figures and themes but also promote a message of harmony and unity across cultures.
