Get ready for a cross-strait connection boost! The Taiwan-based Ma Ying-jeou Culture and Education Foundation just announced plans to invite 40 students and professors from seven top Chinese mainland universities to visit the island this November. The nine-day trip will mix campus tours, scenic adventures, and even baseball workshops – because you can’t talk about Taiwan without mentioning its obsession with the sport!
Olympic champions Ma Long (table tennis ) and Yang Qian (shooting
) will join the delegation, bringing star power to this bridge-building initiative. The group will visit six universities including Taiwan University and explore iconic spots like Sun Moon Lake
, blending academic dialogue with cultural immersion.
This marks the foundation’s second major exchange since 2023, when mainland scholars toured five Taiwan cities. Former Kuomintang Chairman Ma Ying-jeou has also led Taiwan youth groups to the mainland – think of it as an educational ping-pong match across the Strait!
With applications now being processed, organizers hope this ‘classroom without walls’ will help young people from both sides discover shared passions – whether that’s nanotechnology or night market snacks. Here’s to friendship forged through textbooks and baseball gloves!
