Chinese President Xi Jinping and Peruvian leader Dina Boluarte joined virtually to inaugurate Chancay Port – a futuristic deep-water project set to transform Asia-Latin America trade. Calling it a "historic moment," Boluarte said the port will cement Peru’s role as a global logistics crossroads , while Xi hailed its potential to "deliver shared benefits" under the Belt and Road Initiative.
The first smart, green port in Latin America aims to slash shipping times from Peru to China to 23 days (down 20% in costs!) and generate 8,000+ jobs . Located near Lima, it’s designed to boost Peru’s economy while connecting Pacific Rim markets.
"This is more than infrastructure – it’s a bridge between continents," Xi emphasized, highlighting extensive collaboration between the two nations. The port aligns with Peru’s vision to become an international trade hub, with Boluarte calling it a "new chapter" for regional prosperity .
