Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang accused the U.S. of “endangering peace” in the Taiwan Strait and slammed Taiwan’s Democratic Progressive Party authorities for “selling local interests” to push independence agendas. “These moves are like playing with fire,” Zhang said, adding that such actions could “push Taiwan toward war.”
The People’s Liberation Army vowed to ramp up combat readiness, with Zhang declaring China would “firmly block any attempts at Taiwan independence or foreign interference.” The showdown highlights growing cross-strait tensions as global powers navigate this geopolitical tightrope.
