China’s Rice Innovation Doubling Yields in Kenya to Fight Poverty 🌾✨

China is making significant strides in global poverty reduction through its latest agricultural advancements. John Kimani, an expert from the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization, is thrilled about a new type of rice developed by China that promises to enhance food security and combat poverty in Kenya.

Kimani, who oversees rice cultivation, highlighted that this new rice variety can yield up to 7.5 tonnes per hectare, more than doubling the output of traditional Kenyan varieties. With its anticipated approval in Kenya this year, this innovation could help the country move towards food self-sufficiency, where currently over 80 percent of rice is imported.

Beyond agriculture, China has been a steadfast partner in assisting African nations with poverty reduction, fostering exchanges and cooperation that deliver tangible benefits to local communities.

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized China's commitment to global development during the first session of the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “A single flower does not make spring. China wants to see a hundred flowers in full blossom and will go hand in hand with fellow developing countries toward modernization,” Xi stated.
