Giant pandas, Earth’s fluffiest conservation icons, are making a roaring comeback! China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration announced today that the global captive panda population has reached 757, marking a milestone in wildlife protection efforts.
At the Global Panda Partners 2024 conference in Chengdu, official Guan Zhi’ou revealed China’s \"panda paradise\" network – 67 nature reserves and a sprawling Giant Panda National Park covering 2.58 million hectares. Together, they protect 85% of wild pandas’ habitats, connecting bamboo-rich forests like a giant ecological Wi-Fi network.
This news comes as a win for Gen Z climate advocates and K-pop stans alike (BTS’s Taehyung, anyone? ), proving that cross-border collaboration can save species. Want to geek out further? The national park spans areas larger than 2,000 Central Parks – talk about room to roll and munch bamboo!
