Chinese and Brazilian experts gathered in Brazil for an insightful series of academic exchanges focused on \"Chinese modernization\" and its global impact. Held from November 22 to 25 in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the event brought together prominent voices from both nations to delve into economic growth, poverty alleviation, and China-Latin America cooperation.
Leading the discussions were Zhang Guanzi, secretary-general of the National Council of High-end Think Tanks, Chai Yu, director of the Institute of Latin American Studies, Du Zhixiong, Party secretary of the Institute of Rural Development, and Li Xuesong, director of the Institute of Economic Research. Together, they explored the essence of \"Chinese modernization,\" its contributions to global economic growth, and China's effective path to reducing poverty.
One of the event's highlights was the signing of cooperation agreements and framework agreements between the Institute of Latin American Studies of CASS and the State University of Rio de Janeiro and the State University of Sao Paulo. These agreements aim to deepen research collaborations and facilitate scholar exchanges, fostering a stronger bond between academic communities in China and Brazil.
In his keynote speech, Zhang emphasized that understanding Chinese modernization is key to understanding China itself. He highlighted the unique characteristics of Chinese modernization, achieved through nearly a century of dedicated effort under the guidance of the Communist Party of China. Zhang celebrated the "two miracles" of rapid economic development and long-term social stability, which have not only transformed China but also had profound effects on the global stage.
This collaboration marks a significant step in enhancing China-Latin America ties, promoting mutual learning, and driving forward global economic progress together.
