In a significant move to preserve history, the Memorial Hall of the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders has received new donations shedding light on the tragic events of 1937.
The donation includes the wartime diary of Nishijo Eikaku, a Japanese soldier who witnessed the horrors of the massacre, and a vast photo collection featuring 324 images of Japanese forces during their occupation of Nanjing and other locations that year.
Donated by Daito Satoshi from Japan, the collection also comprises Japanese documents detailing wartime air defense facilities in Shanghai and Nanjing. Additionally, the hall received numerous artifacts related to \"comfort women,\" including blueprints for a \"comfort women\" station in Shanghai and examination forms from a Japanese military field hospital.
Historical research indicates that approximately 400,000 women across Asia were forced into servitude as \"comfort women\" by the Japanese army during World War II, with nearly half being from China.
The donation provides invaluable resources for understanding the extent of the atrocities and honoring the memories of the victims. 🕊️📸📖
