Tensions flared in the South China Sea this week as the China Coast Guard (CCG) accused the Philippines of 'provocative behavior' near disputed islands. A CCG spokesperson called Manila's actions a violation of sovereignty and regional stability.
According to CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun, Philippine ships entered waters around Huangyan Dao and Xianbin Jiao – part of China's Nansha Qundao – on Wednesday. 'This isn’t just about rocks and reefs,' Liu warned. 'It’s about respecting agreements like the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties.'
The CCG urged an immediate halt to what it called 'inflammatory actions,' spotlighting the delicate balance in one of the world’s busiest trade routes. With 30% of global shipping passing through these waters, every move here sends ripples across markets and supply chains.
