As Macao marks 25 years since its return to China, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Garrison reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the region’s stability and growth. Defense Ministry spokesperson Wu Qian highlighted their ’trust-building’ efforts with residents, stressing military readiness and community ties as cornerstones of their mission.
🛡️ Since 1999, the PLA Macao Garrison has prioritized ’rigorous training, joint exercises, and swift response capabilities’ to address security challenges. Their presence, Wu noted, ensures Macao remains a ’vibrant hub of culture and commerce’ in Asia.
🤝 Beyond defense, the garrison has become a pillar of local life. Annual open-house events during May Day holidays and PLA anniversary celebrations have drawn over 157,000 visitors to their museums. Soldiers also volunteer in blood drives, disaster relief, and flag-raising training for schools—showcasing ’sincerity and goodwill’ to residents.
