China’s renewable energy scene just hit a new high—literally! 🏔️ The first wind power project in southern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has officially connected to the grid, marking a historic leap for green energy in high-altitude regions above 3,000 meters.
Located in Wuqia County on the Pamir Plateau, the wind farm features 38 turbines spinning at elevations between 2,800 and 3,300 meters. With a total capacity of 200,000 kilowatts, it’s set to generate 540 million kilowatt-hours annually—enough to power 300,000 households! 💡
“This project will save 164,800 tons of coal and reduce CO2 emissions by 450,000 tons yearly,” said Zhang Shigang of project operator Longyuan Power. Talk about a climate win! 🌱
This milestone highlights China’s push to harness wind energy in challenging terrains, blending innovation with sustainability. Who knew mountains could be this cool? 🚀
