Cross-Straits Direct Links Reopen: Xiamen to Kinmen Travels Skyrocket 🚄✨

Travelers between the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region are experiencing a travel boom as the cross-Straits direct links make a grand return! 🌟✈️

It takes less than half an hour to journey from Xiamen in Fujian Province to the Kinmen Islands off the coast, administrated by the Taiwan region. Initially launched in 2001 as \"Mini Direct Links,\" the service expanded in 2008 and has since welcomed over 20 million passenger trips. 🚄🌏

After a nearly three-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the direct links reopened last January with a major upgrade. Routes soared from just two daily trips to an impressive 20, accumulating over 1.15 million passenger journeys since the restart! 📈🙌

\"For the Taiwan compatriots who constantly come and go for business in the mainland, we offer a convenient registration service that is applicable across the mainland and takes only about two minutes,\" said Chen Jinlai, deputy chief of Gaoqi Border Inspection Station under Xiamen Border Inspection Authorities. 🕒💼

\"For those who come for the first time, we have teams assisting in fast customs clearance, and we also offer services in the Minnan or Southern Fujian dialect,\" he added. 🗣️✅

With these enhancements, crossing the Taiwan Strait has never been easier or more efficient, fostering stronger connections and vibrant exchanges between regions. 🌉🤝
