The 2024 Chinese National Sports Directors Conference concluded in Beijing on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for China's sports community.
Attendees reflected on the impressive achievements of Chinese athletes and the overall development of sports over the past year. They conducted a comprehensive analysis of the current landscape and outlined missions for the nation's sports initiatives moving forward. Additionally, they set priorities for the sports sector in 2025.
Gao Zhidan, director of the General Administration of Sport, emphasized that 2025 will be the concluding year for China's 14th Five-Year Plan. He assured that sports administrations at all levels are committed to ensuring a successful wrap-up of the plan next year. Gao also highlighted the preparation of Team China for the upcoming Olympic Games as a top priority.
The conference also spotlighted the first National Youth Games for Football, Basketball, and Volleyball, held in Changsha and Yueyang, Hunan Province, in late November. Elite young athletes from across the country showcased their talents, participating in highly competitive events.
\"We are proud of and excited about the success Chinese athletes achieved in 2024,\" said Song Kai, president of the Chinese Football Association (CFA). \"Meanwhile, we in the football section feel the pressure and are motivated. We want to learn from the Chinese Olympic delegation with their excellent performance at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris to help ourselves improve and rejuvenate Chinese football.\"
