❄️ From Snow Sculptures to Shared Smiles: Mainland & Taiwan Youth Build Bonds

Amid Harbin’s icy landscapes, a group of young residents of Taiwan embarked on a frosty yet heartwarming journey this week, carving connections with peers from the Chinese mainland. The trip, organized under former Kuomintang Chairman Ma Ying-jeou, blended cultural discovery with playful diplomacy – one snow sculpture at a time! ⛄️

The delegation explored Sun Island’s famed ‘Urban Snow Village,’ where they traded smartphones for snow trowels to craft intricate ice art. “The northern landscape is incredibly beautiful,” one participant told China Media Group, marveling at Heilongjiang’s winter magic. ❄️

At the Cross-Straits Youth Ice and Snow Festival opening ceremony, Ma highlighted the power of youth exchanges: “Enthusiastic interactions can melt even the hardest ice.” His sentiment resonated with Yeh Shih-chun, a Taiwan visitor, who shared with CGTN: “There’s always something deeply rooted in us that can’t be changed.” 🌱

Beyond the -15°C chill, the nine-day trip warmed relations through shared creativity and cultural nods – including collaborative work on a snow replica of the Great Wall. Talk about building bridges (and walls) in style! 🧱
