China is doubling down on its role as this year’s Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) president, promising ‘practical steps’ to ramp up global teamwork. At a press briefing Thursday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning unveiled the 2024-2025 SCO presidency emblem, featuring a bold slogan: ‘Upholding the Shanghai Spirit: SCO on the Move.’ The design incorporates Chinese, Russian, and English text – a nod to the bloc’s multicultural roots.
‘The focus on action shows China’s commitment to boosting SCO cooperation in security, economics, and cultural exchanges,’ Mao said. Plans include hosting a major summit and over 40 high-level meetings, plus a star-studded lineup of events like film festivals , youth innovation competitions , and a calligraphy showdown .
